With prior experience co-owning Pino Bros. Ink, Joey was interested in opening a new Tattoo shop. His first shop had done very well and he knew what was required to get one up and running. There were a lot of phone calls made and meetings to set up in the process of getting everything started. He had to make sure the Board of Health accepted the shop. A lot of areas needed to be secure to make sure everyone was covered.

One of the key people Joey knew from managing Pino Bros Ink, was Ken Dean. Kens charismatic attitude was something that attracted many people to Pino Brothers and Joey knew he would play a huge part of Americana Pop. Joey believes that Ken was one of the main reasons his other shop has done so well. With Ken's remarkable creative abilities, Joey put him in charge of developing the shop's look. Since Ken came from a family of interior decorators, he had a vision of elegance and awe. Their minds went to work and soon their ideas became reality.

To find other artists for the store, a posting went out. There were a lot of offers, but only the top of the line would be working here. Ken carefully weaned through a bunch of portfolio’s to find the people right for the job. Zane is one of many artists that sent in work. His portfolio looked awesome so he was welcomed in. They heard from Ross as well; loved his style, and he too was added to the family. They found six or seven guest artists who will be visiting from Nevada, New York, Florida and Japan. In mid November 2007 everything came together and the shop was born.
